Demo reviews

~ ~ ~ ~

I was in the metro, the boring hours of the journey on my way to the university.
Standing, throwing a glance among my co-passengers, the lazy atmosphere almost forced me to doze off, when suddenly my cellphone started to ring.
Ah shit! Another stupid assignment call, I received it; and on my way of barging it to the left pocket, I thought to open up XJ, there might be a release, God knows.
The orange screen saying #612 took a sec to load up, and what I saw was pretty “ShoCking”, it seemed “Haxxed”, the “pizza” packet in my hand almost fell off.
(Sounds co-incidental? I know.)

The white collared gentleman in a matching tie, probably busy in managing some final moment presentation on his brand new mac occupying a nearby seat threw some unspeakable slangs at me, as I completely oblivious of the surroundings, almost tapped and pushed him aside on his shoulder, trying to get myself a seat so as to get a clear view of the page that had finally loaded up on my cell.

I was ecstatic. I felt I had to write something the next week when it all ends.
And that’s how we met again and that’s how the story unfolded.

1. cg_coldbhop_v2_KeltA_0053.40

“KeltA”.
The 5 letters that make all the difference.

I wrote an article in early 2011 on XJ about Chasquido, wherein I mentioned probably coldbhop v2, cliffez have seen their dead end.
The map didn’t come to a dead end, my more-than-a-year prophecy did.

If you had always wanted to see how to recreate history, how to retake maps and how to earn the fame, you might be interested in KeltA. He did all of them, in style. Sheer speed, perfect execution, precise bhops, unparallel dd’s – you name it, he has it all under his sleeve. I tried to put it in better format, but I seem to lose my words right now, cause there’s no adjectives to define perfection. (Don’t forget to check out some well placed gs, you’re gonna love it)

Good going KeltA.
You thrill us everytime there’s a demorelease, and show us a reason to open up XJ.

2. sn_boxedout_kayne_0152.60

I know. boxedout, again? Kayne, again?
Well, its different.

This isn’t the regular map which you see, download, play and delete. This is one of the most heavily played oldschool maps, ever fought, the previous recordholders including mgD, brian, chrizZo, etc. The battle between mgD and kayne became prominent from the late 2010, and kayne made sure he had it recently. He showcased some spectacular quick moves, smooth maneuvered, the strafes are typical – the ones that you are seeing from his Cosy days, and XJ got enough share of it in the last few years.

I caught hold of the Swede, he had some words for me.

prad : Hi kayne, how’re u doing? Wanna share with our readers a few of your exploits?

kayne : Haha, okay sure.. Shoot

prad : Seems you would never get tired of improving boxedout, whats the secret?

kayne : boxedout is absolutely one of my favorite maps, and i will do my best to keep it for as long as possible, and expect to see it improved soon!

prad : How do you feel about your volcanobhop from the latest release, a lot of guys almost believed buh had it, and then you again retook it.

kayne : Nah, volcanobhop has prolly a lot to come. Its still very beatable by a several seconds. I believe it’ll be beaten pretty soon.

That’s kayne- whom you already know, your ever-formidable opponent, who can probably take you down your anything if he just finds the “Interest In It”.
Well, I am glad he has calmed down a lot these days, and he takes things up slowly and steadily.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I concentrated on the words “several”. I tried to laugh, and I took a sip of out of the pepsi which I bought before boarding the train.
The gentleman in white whom I almost pushed over was giving me a distinct gaze, trying to see through my world probably….. and trying to decode what this kid was typing like a fanatic.
We looked at each other, I remembered kayne’s “several”, and I gave a smile. The software professional thought probably he was in the vicinity of a madman, laughing at his own stuff. He tried his best to steer as far away from me as possible.
Suddenly I remembered the once zhady dominated prochallenge bhop, and how its retake took place by prolly over a minute.
I wiped the smirk off my face as a shiver went down my spine, pro’s huh… I thought.
I started writing again.

3. kz_chinabl0ck_pizza^_0356.58

The once common household name in XJ’s favorites has come up again, no doubt we are thrilled.

The ability to carry out quick tricky moves, fast combos, and a neat strafe style- you will never get bored of pizza^, and he will continue to show us why he dominates in the world of climbing. His recent chinabl0ck demo, one of the most favorites is testimony to the fact that he can prolly take down anything if he wants to.

Luckily I got hold of him at my vicinity, lets see what he had to say.

prad : Hi pizza^, recently I had the chance to check out chinabl0ck from the latest release and I must say, it was remarkable. What makes that map so unique that you keep coming for it?

pizza^ : Hi prad, thanx for the compliment! I sadly didn’t achieve the time I was hoping for (3.50~) but I’m still pretty relieved I did it. I love the jumps on this map minus a few tricky ones, so it keeps me coming back for more. Not sure if you remember but kayne actually had 0.01 slower on this map before his demo was removed.

prad : Well, I get that. What about another of your closest contenders, novice? You ever think of him making a comeback?

pizza^ : Rumor has it that novice still records so I wouldn’t be surprised to see it beat whenever he decides on his comeback release. I won’t go down without a fight though!

prad : Interesting! This release also saw owensvalley, another map that I always liked and you pretty much made an impeccable run there. Mind sharing a few words on that?

pizza^ : Well as you might have noticed this is one of my favorite maps since the 2010 days when I first started recording for XJ. You can see a pretty consistent battle with koukouz for it (something pretty rare these days I think) and I don’t think it’ll be over yet.

prad : Alright mate. Thanx for your time, and good luck in future.

pizza^ : Sure prad, anytime! Thanx for acknowledging my demos and hopefully I’ll have something in the near release =]

So, there goes pizza^- honest and flair, courageous and outright.
We really wish you a lot more records, keep on with this positive mindset and power of will to take up anything.

~ ~ ~ ~

(Suddenly the train came to a halt. I thought my destination had arrived, luckily it didn’t yet, and I might just have a few more stations to jot down my stuff.
Some of the co passengers are giving me an eye of disbelief, probably trying to say – “Whats this boy upto? Found treasure in his cell or something”?
Noobs, I thought.
Anyway, I started writing again.

4. kz_kzse_aztectemple_ShoCk_0249.50

So what if you like both climb and bhop, but you are still at doubt at where to show your prowess?
Aztectemple is the one for you.

And that’s exactly the reason why this demo ranks one in my personal favorite from this release.
I noticed ShoCk few years back when he beat zhady’s pyramidblock, guess I was not wrong. This guy has a distinct style, powerful strafes, impressive bunnyhopping abilities, and executes combos in climb maps with great dexterity – I wonder why I shouldn’t call him the next age allrounder? This demo has eye-catching bhops and great speed, smooth circlestrafe and all the elements of kreedzing that you wait to watch to feed your hunger for the love of kreedz.

I got this very talented guy on steam, and he had some interesting information to share.
Check it out.

prad : Hi ShoCk, your latest demo on aztectemple did create quite a stir, I think our readers and even me alike are eager to get a bit of insight behind it.

ShoCk : ShoCkingly, this one took little time to record. Probably the least time I ever took on XJ record. Still I can’t say I’m proud of it since better times have been failed already, yet my strafes there really looked ugly. But it gives me even more motivation to improve, so you may expect an improvement from me in some time

prad : It would be an injustice from my side if I as well didn’t ask you about your other demo, which is probably a 14 secs improvement from Gene, the famous desertblock one. What makes you fight for that one?

ShoCk : I fell in love with the map ever since I got in familiar with it and now throughout the ages it still remains one of the best maps of my personal top. I’ll always be enjoying fighting for it since its really fun to play, yet there are always something to improve by. Especially considering my latest record where lot’s of fails took fails in.

prad : Ok ShoCk, thanx for your time. Wish you much enviable demos in the near future.

ShoCk : My pleasure, it’s an honor to be picked for the review!

That’s how ShoCk goes – pure, unadulterated, and almost genuine.
He’ll speak what he feels, and let himself do it, rather than saying it. Continue shocking others with your talent, even we are loving it.

5. kz_templejourney_Chasquido_0433.30

Somewhere down the line, the name vanished.
I’m so glad it came up again.

This demo will thrill you on the account that a well taken map can be beaten by 9 seconds. That is indeed huge, considering by the ascension of the skill level we experience these days. You get to see the original Chasquido, the name that started to take over XJ, prolly an year back. His typical bhops, the flexible climbs and the perfectly chiseled combos are an envy to every climber out there, and you think, wish I got that speed! The first part of the demo showcases some cool bhops, whereas the terminal part concludes the climb areas, and he carried out both almost-robotically designed fingers.

With a few fails he managed a mammoth 4.33, so I think he’s definitely gonna improve the number game.

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The train came to a halt.
I never realize the time, how fast it flows when I start to jot down something for XJ.
I think my station has arrived, the chores have increased, and a lot of professors are probably waiting there again to hunt me down with their carbines.
Damn! Why me, every time?
Anyway, keep up the faith, we’ll meet again next week, I better go and hide now.

Drunken thought of the week

"Så jävla trött på att dela med mig av mitt liv - men aldrig få nånting tillbaka; va i helvete är de för deal?"
"So fucking tired of sharing stories about my life but never getting anything back."

So you're talking to people about your life, your stories to help them enjoy their experiences more. I know there's allot of people that just like listening to stories and never ship in with their own thoughts or feelings. They just sit there like zombies humming "mmhm" "yeah" as you break down your life and stories for their amusement. It can be stories about anything and nothing, but all you get in return is pretty much nothing. You people really need to show some affection and interest in what's being said or AT LEAST have the guts to say "Sorry I'm not really interested in what your saying right now, can we talk about something else?". There are worse feelings in the world than that nobody´s listening but I mean COME ON. If you are 2 persons sitting in a room discussing and the other part is just like "mmhm" to all of your problems, thoughts and stories. There is clearly something wrong with it. So the question you got to ask yourself is; do you want to keep going like this?
Zero interest, unsocial, dull and boring? And clearly an asshole to your friend/whatever.
I doubt that you people that do this thought about it in this way - well open your eyes.

Movie Reviews

Outta mind by Goldencake - -link-

Feeling bored? Need something fresh and dynamic? Then your bus stops here! Goldencake brings you his latest movie called 'Outta Mind'. Starring himself, he managed to create a rather oldschool atmosphere, without any unnecessary editing. This movie consists of not only 'oldsql' ambience but also some great, old-styled jumps. Bunny hop combos, drop cjs, spins and plenty more. Enjoy!

Reckless 2 by tisha - -link-

Proving a lot of expectations wrong, in truth mine too, Tisha tares down the stage with a new multiplayer movie. Aggressive song, aggressive editing, agressive jumps! That's something raw! A lot of bunny combos there, including Nukk's champ demo with which he won a copy of CS:GO. You definitely should have a look at it, as well as the other tricks. There's not much I can say in addition, just watch this beast-like edit and drop your jaw to the floor.

Rerobot by APE_O - -link-

It's now time to relax after the hardcore editing of Tisha. The new and fastly progressive moviemaker APE_O is back again with one of his UNIQUE clips. Yes, that's right, unique is the exact word which can describe this masterpiece. Containing not only in-game elements this movie is an opiate! Just kick back, take a drink and escape the ordinary.
