I think both (if done correctly) can work, altough, im betting on the 3rd because most releases took ages to actualy happen, even if the 3rd option can go terribly wrong, and the old public vote system would come up, things are pretty much screwed...

5 Seems fine, but it would still limit most "new mappers" to do maps for themselves..

Lets just hope that most experienced mappers still use the normal map system without the public mapcheck, but thats just my opinion

lot of experienced mappers = lot of votes of experienced mappers = no nubby votec of unexperienced people.

I lol on how people want to "change" XJ's system with an option that already has been here for ages...

5... as a mapper i dont want to pre-release my map due to 2 reasons

1) i want to keep the element of surprise if the map gets accepted
2) i absolutely DO NOT want to put my map up for public voting, which is easily manipulated (friends, fakeaccounts... personal problems... the list can be endless)

There are 2 problems with polls like this. People don't read the options or they don't understand them.

@ AverageFreak the public mapchecking system would be OPTIONAL. I guess 99% of the people who "read" that newspost missed that. With option 5 your map will certainly be leaked and you have no other choice.

3 is much better than 5.

I would like to see 2 in this poll! But i don't see it 3 is ~ 5 and people don't think a little that they can't do the difference of a nice map, good to be official and a quite-impressive map but still not good to be official. I bet on 3 anyways.

It is good to know that at least someone, that was Flibo, has read the news. Good to know that mappers decline system 3, because some nubies would be allowed to decide about their maps. Actually, that is not the case and not a part of system 3.

tbh i dont think either of the options is very good but i also understand that XJ needs a change and its either some of this options or nothing ..
So i voted for option 5 because i want experienced people to try my map and get feedback from them, and not from people that dont know anything about mapping or quality maps like it would be at option 3 ..
Also if option 3 will be the one XJ will use in the future it will really suck because its 100% sure that EVERY SINGLE MAP that gets posted in the public area will be submited at cosy-climbing by some retarded guy and when the map finally gets accepted at XJ the map will already be old and overused on pub servers, and friends will vote for theire friends maps even though the map is really bad.
So i really hope option 5 wins.
If 3 wins, i will never use the public area, i will only post the map directly to XJ mapcheckers.

Flibo.. optional yes, but if the map gets denied cause of some awful wallbug that was missed when i was checking for example, there is no second chance to submit my map, and all the work (hard or not) would be lost.

thats making the option of simply submitting a map to xj much more risky, and everyone will probably use the public check whether they like it or not, especially new mappers -> reducing surprise factor -> reducing fun factor ---IMO.

And with 5, my map will be leaked... 3 wont AT ALL reveal it entirely to all the people that visit XJ for the 1st time, eh... in case i misunderstood that part, tell me.

anyway i also noticed that almost all mappers voted for 5. Reason? they feel the same... jumpers just want new maps and want to get them faster.

What happens in a system 3 mapsubmission: mapper pre-releases, it gets tested, and accepted. At official release, the map has been played a lot already and is no longer interesting.

to all that think, that we do not understand 3rd system. i understand i wery well, but .. i really dont want to risk all the work i did on it. so thats why i decline 3rd system.
